This is probably the funnest, most diverse group of strangers that I’ve ever met, we are all brought together by one common interest, tiny trees…. As diverse as we all are, I’m sure just about everyone here has a hidden talent that no one would suspect. In the spirit of fun and getting to know each other better, I’ll go first. I flintknap. I have a whole tool kit of primitive tools mixed with modern tools that I use to make primitive arrowheads and spear points. I don’t Knap as much as I used to but i still keep my skills sharp so to speak.
Heres My tool kit along with some raw chert nodules, some obsidian and some quartz.

With a little patience and a few well placed strikes, I turn those big rocks into these little grocery getters.

This skill also ended up leading to arrow making and Atlatl making.

That is really cool. You are like a modern day Indian. I am fascinated by ancient technology and what people can do with basic tools. I watch some of those - no talking videos where a guy builds shelters and makes a kiln, shingles and pottery from complete scratch. I bet you know these.

That is cool… and hard, I’ve tried it.

In a similar vein, l obsessed with friction fire and feel confident with bow-drill and hand-drill fire making.
That’s hard to do too!
I don’t know about “hidden” since my other interests are fairly mainstream. But in addition to bonsai and pottery, I also love to ski and to fly fish!

im jealous, I’ve never gotten the chance to try fly fishing. It looks very fun and natural

I do lol

What a fun thread!

I’ll chime in with my -hidden to you- but very much my main talent in real life.
I draw and paint portraits with pencil, charcoal and oil paint.

here‘s a few examples:

I look forward to seeing what you all are up to next to your daily tree hugging!

Holy cow, those are awesome! Thank you for sharing!

I am a jack of all trades. I can do most anything I try to a decent level but never excellent.
No hidden talent really. Perhaps I can consider the fact that, when I really calm myself, I can pet a lot of wild animals and birds (deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc.). When I am dead calm, they will let me approach and touch them without running away. I was even able to do that to some redfish in the lake!

Wow, quite impressive indeed!

I, too, am a jack of all trades and master at none… But… I am apparently unbeatable at the game “clue“, and I was always picked as the last in line on my team in the drinking game “anchorman“ when I was in college😬

Do you do any commissioned work?

My hidden talent is fainting at the sight of injection needles on syringes.
I can dissect humans, frogs, all sorts of animals. I can work with blood. I can stitch wounds with non-hollow needles. I can do tattoos. I can do liquid fungi cultures with blunt needled syringes, or refilling printer ink. But sharp injection needles? Man down!
