Whats the ugly on this berberis?

As per the title I found some slimey looking ugliness on my berberis

Any tips on what it is and how to remove greatly appreciated

Yeah, that doesn’t look good… l would guess some type of fungal issue that you may consider spraying for.

Hopefully somebody with more info chimes in.

but if its slimey....yeah could be a fungus
