We've had 12 days of 80 degrees(or higher) here in the month of January. Many of my little trees think it is spring, with summer right-around-the-corner & are budding &/or leafing out. This weather will not hold..we will get more wet, cold weather before spring actually arrives..April can be our coldest month, some years, so I am concerned that my "early-bloomers" are not going to like it..I know, many of you would like to have that problem, but I am just a tad bit concerned.

Tree protection day today here in central Florida. Night time temperatures for the next 3 days will be between 20-25F. Don’t see that very often. Plumeria and fruit trees can’t handle that. Just have to bag the trees and put low watt lights inside the bag.

Oh, and for those who have been watching my mourning doves picture with me, the party is over. The babies were out of the nest this morning and they flew away with mom when I went outside to take a picture. Don’t know if they will come back to it.

Beautiful! Growing up in Sonoma County I spent a lot of time on those beaches. Goat rock, Wrights Beach, Salmon Creek, Jenner, Shell beach. I need to go back.
Yep, we're right smack between San Rafael (go TL Trojans!), and Petaluma.
With beautiful daytrips like these, who needs a vacation!92647850026959567.jpg

Even when it gets cooler, it's still not getting to freezing temps. A few of my sweet gums and Siberian elms are beginning to push some leaves, but they should be just fine in the longrun.

Anyone know what the variegated junipers I've got here are? They are mixed with procumbens nana cuttings.

Felt a lot like spring today as we have had multiple days above 80 F this week and my japanese maple seedlings are beginning to show their true leaves.

I also noticed a trident maple cutting I had taken last summer was starting to leaf back out so I gave it some liquid fish fertilizer to get it started for the season.

I also started soaking a whole bunch of seeds with the goal of gernination including a few species of pines/conifers, and quite a few different japanese maples (Clipping the samaras off of them took a while!)
