What did you do today? Show us Pic Required

I tended to my last remaining indoor tropicals. The ones outside need some pruning though...

Some had minor pruning. Others had a hard cutback to build better branching. I also tested the limits of a mediumish trunk bend on a Raintree.

All of this started with me starting to clean up the grow tent. I had initially planned on discarding this Raintree that I repotted into a clay pot. I thought it fully died under my care. So I pulled it out of the container and dumped the substrate. I noticed the trunk that was just below the soil line was pretty plump. During my examination, I found the trunk to still be very much alive.

So I repotted it back in the container with the same soil. I covered it with plastic wrap to hopefully allow it to recover. I don't have high hopes giving how I handled it until now, but we'll see.

Went to Gdaughter's softball game and left w/my phone on the hood of the car. Drove back and actually found it in a 4 way intersection. Still works, cracked screen and busted camera lenses. Hence no Pic of what I did today.
Trimmed and cleaned up the bark and critters on my old collected yard yew yesterday. What am I chasing out from under the flakey bark?

Oh and yesterday's post about resisting the urge to trim the E Hemlock didn't stand. Choppy choppy...

Today's flavor of free find is: Japanese holly.

Found it listed for free online. I picked it up as you see, dug and boxed up.

I split it into two and chopped my heart out. Made a couple rough boxes for 'em, too. I'll take a walk for moss to mix into topdressing in the morning.

Watered my bench-grown pine

Not sure but it actually could be a JRP seed stolen from a pot I was starting some in I found knocked over on another bench. I didn’t start any JBP this year.

Look at the massive deadwood Nebari on that beast! 😂

I styled up a volunteer that has been anything but sad in its new grow box but is now “weeping”. An American Elm I am excited about the future of!

Sea green chinese juniper.

From this-

To This, camera angle didn't pick it up well but there is some subtle movement in the very straight looking sections and a little more fiddling after the picture was taken neatened it up a bit. But it gets the idea-

Went fishing again to chase more bluefish. Caught my limit of 3 bluefish in less than an hour...lol. Messed around with a rubber jig hoping to tease a fluke to strike but nada. Took the dogs with me to get them out of the house for a day. Was a beautuful and great day.

Did some serious pruning today on my new tree..
I AM a little sad that the new leader was badly managed and full of scares and lumps so the whole top came off. One step back to go two steps forwards?
Now I am the proud owner of a wheelbarrow full of p. maheleb cutoffs.
