Buds and Flowers showing on two of my Dwarf Chojubai. Size varies with degree of close up they are the smaller red flowers and smaller leaves with red tinge on the edge of the leaves.
I am surprised at the timing of your blooms! Mine bloom months earlier - like December/January!

I went to the local garden center for some veggies for the garden, which I did get, but I also left with 2 small azaleas. I couldn't resist, $7.99 each.
I've had Girard's Crimson before but this Kurume Hybrid, called Traditional, is new to me. It has a nice small flower.
A little rainy today.

Decided to char my cedar training pots. Easy to do with a propane torch. Should add some extra protection from weather and bugs, plus I think it looks nice. I haven't decided yet if I'll brush it out with a wire brush - changes the appearance while keeping the benefits.

Mine do as well! Dwarf Chojubai bloom various times throughout the year from my experience with them! Best description would be Quirky, definitely not on a regular schedule. Some of mine were blooming much earlier! Then we had a prolonged cool spell and others are blooming now. Our winter was cooler and wetter than normal this year. The Prunus mume ignored the weather and bloomed right on regular schedule. But they were housed in the greenhouse.

changed the front of my RMJ and repositioned wiring. something was missing before, and that something was an angle shift. the tree still needs some prep work before I put it up at my local club show, but it's thriving with new growth

Bonsai club meeting, a small pottery introduction. Made two small pots. First time I ever worked with clay.View attachment 580572
I got my pots back, burned and glazed. Very happy to see them survive the kiln! Now I have to figure out what to use them for.

Our monthly club meeting was held today at the National Arboretum's Bonsai Museum for a behind-the-scenes look at how they repot those beauties.
Today, Michael James and 2 apprentices repotted a 100 year old JWP that was last repotted 8 years ago.

Today I've been planning my new watering and meshing systems. As you can see in the pics, I've bought some structural wooden beams:

I will use them to create the support for my watering nozzles:

and a new 40% rolling shading mesh. It will be more or less something like this: (the black lines are the beams, the white lines hoses, the purple lines the nozzles) The mesh will roll over.....

I'm concerned about the water pressure needed, but ready to add a new pump, and create different circuits to cover all the pots...... I'll take it easy, and hope to finish it in the next months.

Potted up a Boston ivy. Found it in my veggie garden last year.

Channeled my inner Morticia Adams and removed all but one of the flower buds from my cherry. Out of the three whips I have this is the only one that's flowering and it has significantly less foliage. I forget which kind they are 😬 so I'm leaving one flower.

Went to remove most of the flowers from my white chojubai. I'm hoping to use it for cuttings. Then I yelled "oh fuck" when I saw the aphids.
