Got this Brazilian rain tree from a friend, my first one.
Get a cider press, and if you like the dry stuff you won't be disappointed. Not sure it qualifies as purchase . Have a barter system going with the little old lady down the street . Started when I moved in . And she asked me if she could have some apples. From my crab apple tree . And swore me to secrecy
. Secret ingredient in her annual fair winning apple jelly . The apples are especially sour . I score several bottles for my secrecy . I have been giving her bonsai soil
. For her roses and house plants also . Anyway she donated this stand . It’s iron needs a little corrosion removal
. She says she got it from her aunt , it’s at least 50 years old
The press sounds like a great idea . The tree normally has a bumper crop . Last year was hard pressed . To get enough apples for her . A bad spring storm knocked all the flowers off . But the year off seemed to help the tree . Been fighting borers since I came here .Get a cider press, and if you like the dry stuff you won't be disappointed.
Nice stand too.

Wow, those roots. Any history on this one that you know
(Mother tree) Randy Knight collected 6 years ago from the Rockies(CO). Been in recovery container for 5 years and was repotted into initial container last year. Initial styling was February of this year. The tree was tilted up from its original recovery container to showcase those roots!Wow, those roots. Any history on this one that you know

(Daughter tree) Adam Johnson collected. Repotted and initially styled at the same time as Mother tree.
Both are Douglas Fir trees.
Thanks!That’s crazy nice tree
A few things, that tub is too small for that size tree, And the soil level is too high. You are going to have circling roots too close to the trunk and the tree will push itself "out" of the tub by next year if it starts to grow strong in the summer. Also, keep an eve out on the tie downs, even though you have a rubber tube around them they will dig into the tree if it swells and BC's trunk scars take a long time to disappear if they disappear at all.View attachment 483697
Tree I just purchased through Cajunrider
When I potted tree I put 3” of bonsai soil in bottom for drainage then cut a wood circle for plant to set on not nearly as deep as it looks.A few things, that tub is too small for that size tree, And the soil level is too high.
