Well, I actually bought a tree from the “bonsai” section of the nursery. A Mercedes beech, which is one of the cultivars my teacher told me to look out for.

Graft is not great but that’s okay as I’m planning a ground layer. Anyone read the Oishii article in Bonsai Focus 115?

Now order a new fence and replace the fence between me and my neighbour then start building new benches

Picked up a few odds and ends at Kokufu and Tokoname. 24 pots, a couple of books, cut paste. It pays to have them packed properly. All arrived without any breakage. The Kinbon book on JWP just requires a bit of translation. Will need to take some time with google translate in order to pick up on the details of development and styling presented in the Japanese version.
