Salt pennywort is a fleshy plant, 6-10 inches tall, with round, undivided leaves, 2-4 inches across, attached to the stem in the center of the leaf. The leaf edge is scalloped. The flower head is an umbel 2-3 inches across. Individual flowers are tiny, with 5 greenish-to-white petals.

Creeping Woodsorrel.


Oxalis corniculata, the creeping woodsorrel, also called procumbent yellow-sorrel or sleeping beauty, resembles the common yellow woodsorrel, Oxalis stricta. It is a somewhat delicate-appearing, low-growing, herbaceous plant in the family Oxalidaceae. It has a narrow, creeping stem that readily roots at the nodes. The trifoliate leaves are subdivided into three rounded leaflets and resemble a clover in shape. Some varieties have green leaves, while others, like Oxalis corniculata var. atropurpurea, have purple. The leaves have inconspicuous stipules at the base of each petiole. The fruit is a narrow, cylindrical capsule, 1 to 2 cm long and noteworthy for its explosive discharge of the contained, 1 mm long seeds.

Last one looks like wild violets. They are a problem for me in the landscape as they spread rapidly and are hard to kill. The flowers are very pretty on a small scale.

They call it swamp violet here...
All over my lawn.
Cool purple flowers.
Hearty plant.
It's my only venture into accent plantings...

Funny, you're halfway across the world, but we've got the same plants in our yards and accent plantings. This was a planting with a lot of marsh pennywort in it. It eventually took over the pot completely.

I'm currently waiting for my wood sorrel and violets to leaf out. Should be soon.

Halfway around the world and a different planet in terms of climate.

Beautiful kusamono. The deadwood is a great add - very natural. I have a couple of deadwood kusamono plantings too - I like them a lot.

Looks similar to Lesser Celandine, but I don't know if that grows in Texas. If it is, it will have yellow flowers on stalks.

Yeah, probably Sweet Violet or else Dog Violet. Pretty obviously a violet to me.

Looks like miner's lettuce.

Looks like miner's lettuce.

Miner's Lettuce leaves all grow from the same point, whereas pennywort creeps along on a stolon putting out leaves here and there, as you see in this image.
