Very pleased with the Chinese Quince...

I think...the undeveloped back which was shown as a new front early on. Will remain the new front...that movement is what I fell in love with. Why hide it behind the fuller developed front...when Bonsai is about developing ones tree.

Really loving this pre-bonsai...

Love the hobby...and what it brings to each of us in our own personal way.

How has the growth been for you on this one? Seems to me it should look quite different.

It's put on some new growth...but not crazy wild. It won't need its roots messed with next year. It was repotted this spring. So will allow it to rest...and just be a tree.

Here some trees are moving the buds but weather forecast says frost a few days ahead and night frosts so i will delay my repotting as long as possible

Don't blame you. We are far from being over our winter as well.

Mine will need to be defoliated soon, brown leaf, not dropped with fresh buds just starting to form - how odd the weather has been but honest I am glad they are not moving before a few more frosts occur.

Defoliation before leaf break is a key there...makes for much easier task. About fell asleep on the golf cart at the bus stop. The sun is so warm. T-shirt and Capri day...crazy weather.

Windows and doors open here, ceiling fans going, wonderful fresh air indeed! I mentioned we are getting new AC this year and talked to the contractor today - he will give us the final quote this week and proceed - said people will be using it today  Looking at the house temperature - 77F! Geeeeesh.... :P

I'm still trying to decide how to wire that lower right branch. I need to study some trees...to give me direction. I unwired this tree...then started wiring then got sick. But need to look at some trees for direction. I don't wish to wire without a purpose.

Just be aware that as branches on Chinese quince age, they get rather brittle. You'll want to wire them sooner rather than later.

This weekend is the plan. Had planned to today. But the husband back to work from getting over pneumonia...and today he fights with the table saw. He was lucky...4 stitches in his finger tip and one finger tip glued. Antibiotics since it was a dirty cut. So...my mind isn't on wiring currently. But thanks for the heads up.

Wish him well sounds painfull!
I think that what you want could work
Also trying to get a branch here and remove that lower one is a possibility

Only the lower trunk is kinda boring straight that way tough

Thanks...throbbing currently. He was very lucky. 4 stitches to one...glue on the other.

The lower section needs that branch. It's a slant but all with all the movement up top...you miss it. Judy was for keeping it...and I agree.
Thanks for the vertual though. ?

Using that photo I shared above...I will use that lower right branch to grow further to the right and bring that into a triangle shape. Filling in the space there to have a nice fuller canopy. ? (Not growing it to close to that trunk. Want to still notice that movement there. ) feels good to have a definite direction.
