Upload allowance?

was wondering about that. I never understood the reason for a media section if you can just post your pictures in a thread, with an explanation, and all together in a story of posts.
My main reasons for joining was so I could create albums for each individual tree and add pictures over time to see their progress. The upload limit in the personal albums is a pain but I can work around it.

why don't you reduce the size to 1024x1024 or even 800x800 pixels?

I was mistaken - it has been a while since I checked the media gallery settings. There is no limit in terms of the images that you can post in the forum.

The primary reason why there is a limit is to prevent people from loading large images without compression onto the site. 100MB if you compress your images to 100K is 1000 images. (The largest current gallery is 180 images) If you load them uncompressed at 10MB per image... you get 10.

That is why I said I had to check into our compression utility and make sure everything was working properly. The site should automatically compress images if they are uncompressed. It sounds to me like you are loading images with an average size of 4MB... so you are running out of room quickly.

I’d love to learn (Comparatively) of all the local uk dialect.. like is Essex a different accent/dialect than Whales...

I like Sociology alot.

Errr yes. Essex is different from Whales. I dont really know where to start with that question so im just gonna jump right in..

A whale is a big blue fish that lives in the sea.
WALES is a country within the UK
the UK is not a country
The UK is made up of 4 countries ENGLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND, WALES
Essex is a town in LONDON ENGLAND They talk nothing like Dick van dyke in Mary poppins hahaha
WALES is a totally different country with its own language even. WELSH. They only seem to use it when English people are around though just to confuse us.
so yes, an essex accent is totally different from Welsh accent.
You can have 5 towns in a 20 mile radius and the accents are all different. Not too dissimilar but each one distinctive and recognisable.

The northern accent is more gruff..bit like Ned Stark and john snow in game of thrones. The southern accent is more posh..to me anyway, like what you imagine the Royal Family talk like i guess.

Cool cool cool cool!!!

Thank you! Love that knowledge!

So much diversity in not too big an area. That’s fascinating... Do they take care of your local historic buildings well? I bet in posh areas, the architecture is GORGEOUS!

My town was pretty much the start of the industrial revolution. It was full of cotton mills and chimneys back in the late 1800s. Most have been demolished now but the ones that remain are classed as listed buildings and cant be altered structurally. Some are still used as warehouses or converted into apartment blocks...Most important historical sites are protected but theres so much history here. Every time there is a new building project they have to postpone so an archaeological dig can take place. They could find anything from Stone age flint arrow heads, bronze age axes, roman settlements, Viking helmets.....
Hell they even found King Richard III when the dug up a parking lot in London...

Check out a guy called Martin Zero on youtube. Hes from a town called Middleton near me and he takes you on a historical tour of industrial Manchester. He has some really cool videos and hes a good presenter

I forgot this was a bonsai site..Glad hes not one of them mods who moans every time you go off topic....Or is he???

Just start threads!

It's good to have the notes, and the recommendations of others!

Sorce

So if i started a thread..would i be able to come back to it in say next spring to add more pics and keep a log of the progress?

YES. The threads do not expire, nor are they locked or deleted. In fact, one of the benefits of this site is to find a four year-old thread, and add to the end asking " hey can I get an update on this tree?"

Last noobie question..and you would still prefer i upload smaller images even in the threads? If i upload straight from my phone will Scotty be drawing power from the shields?
