Unsafe at any speed... Fiskar multi-purpose "garden snips"

I don't think so, look at the packaging. It says: dual edged blades.

And I think that's why the sheath is included for protection.

But IMO this is indeed a dangerous tool.
I actually got them at Costco as a bonus pack with a set of loppers - and I wanted the loppers more than the pruners :) I don't recall what the original packaging said, since I opened it and used the loppers right away, but the shears went into a garden tool bucket in the garage. I've had them in my garage for a while and never used them since I had some other pruners that still had some life in them. Pulled them out this week and thought they were just pruning shears... mistake! That photo is from shears being sold at the Lowes garden center.

I said "enough ridiculousness" and went online and bought a nice pair of Japanese pruning shears. If I need to cut rope, open a plastic bag, or shiv my cellmate, I will use my box cutter or multi-tool, both of which I can carry in my pocket without worrying about inadvertent puncture wounds LOL!

Link for the shears you bought?

You'll need to sharpen the handle end of a toothbrush on the concrete to get a good shiv in. Ask me how I know. ;)

A classic example of the rampant over- engineering seen in all aspects of our society today. Yes, I know that rethinking a product can lead to innovation but some of it just seems to be driven by a need for job security. The older I get, the more I believe in the maxim, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

You saw it in a YouTube video, right? I think I saw that one too. It was called something like, "Serial Killer Dentist Evens the Score With Hygiene Challenged Cellmate." It may have been on Dr. Grande's channel.

I think your joke/sarcasm detector is broken. I'll ring a bell the next time I make a joke so you know. :)

Doing time for murdering trees? 😳
Doing time all the time. :)

I'm with you man. But I feel the same as japanese style pruning shears that pinch the skin off of my hand every time the handle closes. Or those specialized grafting knives, they suck.
So true! I quickly handed them to my wife and in seconds she screamed. Oh my how I apologized and remember how I LEARNED to actually use them without taking a piece of my plam….

But those Fiskars are a lawsuit waiting to to happen!

My brain wouldn’t comprehend those and I’d get cut as well. I can see the use but seems like it’s trying to hard to be a multi tool.

I’ve many times just used the blades in shears to cut. But you know in the open position 🤔

Gives me a good idea. What about a fork at the end of a hunting rifle? 🧐
