Trident leaf discoloration

Wondering about leaf colors with brown spots on leafs on trident maple? Tree is fairly new to me and just kept in current container and watering when needed. Wondering if needs more sun? When searching other threads I tend to notice more black edges or leaf curling but this appears more like brown leaf spots in middle of leafs.

Not sure what to do or try.

Looks fungal to me. I've had this a couple of times on Tridents and it never ended well.

Did you treat or trees just end up dying?
