I have no idea your climate, but I have a Ligustrum japonicum which is a Japanese privet and it has gone for 1/4 to 2" diameter in 2 growing seasons. It grows like mad and keeps growing well into winter. While most tree's are going dormant now it's still has new growth. They grow like mad so don't know if you have room but a simple little green house may provide a jump on the growing season.
