Tide commercial

I dont think it is sad to make money from a hobby. I would personally never sale any of my bonsai, but I feel that it is rewarding to make money from a hobby, and it helps with income for some people. Like the money is appreciation for your effort. The moment you turn your hobby into a business, then you have lost all the fun out of the hobby. But I dont see anything wrong with whatever decision one makes.

I have to disagree. I've been doing bonsai since I was ten and I've owned a bonsai nursery for 17 + years now and still get excited about working on trees or finding new material. Yes sometimes coming up with the cash to pay the bills is no fun but I enjoy bonsai as much as ever. If anything it's even more fun because I get to share it with so many people through classes and workshops.

Without the people who decided to turn their bonsai hobby into a business, I don't think we'd have the supplies, and trees that we have access to now. At least not the quality that we have currently in the US. It is getting better, as more lovers of the hobby turn pro. So I'm all for it, and even this commercial, although it looks bad to us, it recognizes bonsai.

When "want to's" become "have to's", joys become obligations it take on a different persona. The trouble in the world of bonsai is the time to travel, teach, make money is the same time my trees demand all the attention. Like the plumber with the drip in his faucet and the mechanic with a clank in his car, I'm sure it's hard to tend to everyone's business for pay and then tend to your own.
