The Trophy 2025 - 22/23 February 2025 - Genk Belgium

30k?
Dunno.
Considering the qeue on saturday last year stretched several hundreds of metres and some people waited for 2 hours to get in..
The trick is to simply not buy online and pay cash at the door where there's no queue...

Damn I got my advance tickets to be safe...

Ah well anything that reduces the risk of my overspending is probably a good thing ;) for once this show should hopefully be about appreciation and inspiration rather than acquisition for me!

The Czech pot guys are absolutely worth a visit - beautiful stuff at a very good price.

This is their webshop and if you order online - they'll bring the goodies to the show for you and you can even pickup and pay there by card.

Even if you ONLY buy some plastic pots - 15cm plastic pots are €0.59 - that's 50p.

40cm x 30cm - €5.55/£5 : https://www.e-bonsai.com/en/bowls-a...-bowl-plastic-mp-6-brown-40-x-30-x-10-cm.html

Accent pots at the show €3-€4 - and they're not just cheap, they're absolutely lovely too!

A mitraillette sandwich is worth it!
Andalusia sauce, hmmm.

All Belgian beers are good, though I'm not a fan of the Kriek beers. If in doubt, jupiler is basically apple juice with alcohol.

To all visitors: bring cash money from home. The local ATM will be drained and not all sellers have electronic payment methods available.
Last time I had some difficulties transacting: it took another vendor to accept my card payment, so he could give another seller some cash, so I could get a tree.

Wish this wasn't a 2 hour drive.. Would love to go..

Im a fan! Love an Orval or La Chouffe, or anything really ( much to my regret the next morning) i was thinking more places to go when not staring at trees ;) 🍻

Thanks for the sandwich tip! I imagine there'll be all kinds of bitteballen and krokets maybe so close to NL

The Belgians just across the border have their own varieties of deep fried snacks and they're worth checking out! Not sure if they would serve bitterballen and krokets, I haven't seen those. But the Italians are catching on too, and they're making them with pasta filling instead of the ragout we use.

If you're into sour beers I can recommend Kriek-type beers, heavily fermented in the bottle and they come in all kinds of flavors. My body rejects them - and all other beers - with a passion, but I never turn down a small sip. Some of them are just down right nasty, but most have a pretty unique flavor profile.

@SgtPilko
some people from bonsainut i have met before so i will likely still recognize them but some i might never seen... there must be pictures somewhere on the forum of a past meeting in front of the bonsai-empire stand 🤣
i like meeting new people specially when they share the same passion so to anyone that find that topic i am on about you would be able to recognize me since i have not changed allot since then dont be shy im always in for a chat!

Oh, I wish I could attend this exhibition and meet some lovely people - maybe another year.
Really keen to get a glimpse of this year's anniversary later online.
Please enjoy and have a safe journey!

Anybody know what the parking situation was like in recent years? I see there are some quite large praking areas nearby, but still with enough visitors they could fill up quickly.
