Well yes, if you take photos the light from the next row Shined straight over the backdrop into your camera but also in your face when viewing the tree's not to bad but with taking pictures it was anoying but cant complain as there was no pictures allowed and everyone was making pictures so ive shot a couple as wellGreat Pictures!
Is it just me, or is there something surreal and uncanny about the lighting in that place?
I am not really clued up on how to get back issues but at least we know it was done exactly around Jan-Feb 2020 just before the pandemic - so i guess most likely the issue quite soon after that? The tree he had was from an older bonsai focus article/video right? Somebody maybe knows where to find it?
I have an album here of photos (largely of the extensive sales areas and just a handful of the exhibition itself:
Lol yeah hahaYeah the spotlights were very strong, i think in person not so bad, it did give the trees a certain other-worldliness which i kinda liked. Was an insane amount of just giant, amazing trees - quite intimidating because you really feel like you are playing another sportor at least 10 leagues below haha
I only took some quick phone pics at 5pm on day 2 when it was nice and quiet so hopefully didn't get in anyones way, and yeah pretty much everyone breaks that rule a bit
Yes.Does anybody know if we’re going to be able to watch back the demo’s?
The tree on Saturday was worked on for Bonsai Focus:The tree he had was from an older bonsai focus article/video right? Somebody maybe knows where to find it?
The light is VERY strong that they install and align perfectly with the rows of trees. The red carpet does dive everything a bit of a glow so proper whitebalance is dificult, which is clear in the variation of color tones in picture online. I explicitly set my camera to a fixed whitebalance and adjust in post-processing, all the same adjustment. This year I short MANY trees before the show opened, using just the normal light which is more pleasant for color reproduction (And struggled mixing the footage during editing, hence the comment at the start of my video)Is it just me, or is there something surreal and uncanny about the lighting in that place?
My favorite size. Shohin are too static, big trees are just too big, I'm Goldilocks for chuhin but does not seem to be an attractive size right now for display.Kifu - to - Chuhin never seem to get much love, but they are perfect for your average garden and hobbyist
Kudos to you on your part in this show!!! I wonder if you or someone could post the winning trees and what category they won? (I know there are some photos, but the plaques are difficult to read) Thanks! The light is VERY strong that they install and align perfectly with the rows of trees. I cannot, as I do not have specific pics; I only used my camera on friday, so on saturday and sunday (the few hours before demos started) I could walk around, talk to people and buy "a few" things. (I had dificulty packing my car with stacks of pots, some simple trees and my lugagge).Kudos to you on your part in this show!!! Andy Jordan has a video of many exhibits here
I think in the coming days more content might come out - there were various photographers and youtubers around, Bonsai Empire, Mauro had a team though probably fully focused on him![]()
