The Tree Thread

Really struggling with bonsai as of late but some trees are starting to grow after a year of nothing but trouble in the garden. I was able to squeeze in a little time for this jade today thanks to my wife. Not sure how to work these trees yet but I’m trying.

American hornbeam -four or so years out of the forest.
From 15 gal this past spring, seems to like this new box because was getting wild and had to trim for light..one insult and sometimes one compliment per year or such I suppose 😌..been said, hornbeams are tough

Looks so great! What is the proper process to get that trunk to thicken like you did?

This is a 5 trunk English Elm forest in development, actually its a multitrunk/clump since its all connected. from a root cutting, long way to go

I want that tallest trunk to be the dominant one, so ive been trimming back the ones on either side to allow it to take over.
aiming for more height. wiring shoots all through summer for up out movement with lots of twists n bends.
