The Tree Thread

I am such a sucker for cypress Frank. And one of my fave trees is a Tsukomo. Amazing you did this from cutting considering the growth rate!! How many years did you ground grow if any?

The tree was grown from cutting by Tak Yamura in Vancouver BC. he produced a lot of fine stock by cutting and the field growing. It was considered a discard and challenge after being dug from the field. It was not showing much promise at that stage and Tak gave it to my son who was helping him at the time. Estimate the age to be 35 years. I have been working this tree for 12 years from the first styling.
Here is a juniper under development.

Shohin dwarf spruce, Picea abies 'Little Gem'. Work in progress.View attachment 415540
This tree was a small part of a display at the Chelsea Flower Show this week. I snapped the pictures below from TV coverage on the BBC tonight, which was a first for me! I’ll be at the show on Saturday so I’ll get better pictures then.

If you have access to BBC iPlayer the section on bonsai is about halfway through this episode https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0017nzd
