Repotted it up with Boon in early spring here in Norcal and we decided on some primary branches which I wired up a bit later. Then I just let it run to thicken everything up and plan for the next few years.

I don’t like showing my nicer trees (and I don’t have many) but tonight I was kind of meditating on the idea that “your stress means nothing” and had brought this in to assist

I’ve had this Japanese beauty berry for a few years and have been baffled as to what to do with it, as it had great negative but two trunks moving in opposite directions front to back.

A local bonsai professional suggested changing the angle - I never think to do that! Need to add remembering to play with it to my muscle memory…

Gave a shot at a rough wiring, erred towards keeping more than less so I can make some decisions next year.

As almost always, doomed to have a crappy backdrop.

That has to be one of the best-ramified Ash bonsai I have seen. Great work.

Picture to make the post legal: another in-progress Deshojo. Needs a few more years. It was an air layer from the one posted up the thread. The bottom left two branches were thread grafts, the lowest is a sacrifice to improve the base. Lower trunk was ramrod straight I'm gradually getting some movement / flare in it.

Damn this page has some tough acts to follow! This one can’t compete but I still love it. From seed and year after year I say I will chop low in spring. I never do. Wish I didn’t lose leaves to heat/sun at the top but oh well.
