The Tree Thread

Thats the idea yes! It was just a straight broomstick at the nursery!
This is the Tree thread, each post requires a picture of one of your trees😊 @Bonsai Forest

Here's a Thuja plicata/Western Redcedar I picked up from a garden centre a few weeks ago and repotted then done nothing else with, ill allow it to establish itself in the pot before any more work, lets see if it rewards my patience 🤔
It has a nifty nebari

Grouping for Winter

Very nice! I have a similar tree to your starter. How long before the end picture?

Korean Hornbeam for spring...

The "before" picture is from mid 2020, so it's been less than 4 years.

JBP han kengai begging for a trim.

Big arakawa maple that I am developing for a client. The entire top had died several years ago and a whole new top was regrown. It was then left to grow freely to strength it. The tree was brought to my place in May of last year and now it will be here for a while until I can get it back on the right path. A hard cut back was made in the fall to open up the canopy and encourage denser ramification. A lot of interior growth was unfortunately lost due to lack of light. It will be repotted and put into a box or another pot this spring.

Eugenia Sprengelli is a native of Brazil, often used for bonsai.
This tree was gifted to me by a very good friend some three years ago, as a bush, and unfortunately I have broken the trunk in its upper third, compromising the apex. So I took some grafting tape, joined the split trunk tightly, and waited.
Today it had a little trim, and luckily the trunk seems to be healing very well.

That is an insanely fun pot. Any idea who it's made by?

An air-layered cedar elm clump that I took early last year, very excited to properly pot it up this spring

Not sure as I have not really looked closely to be honest. But it looks to me like it might be from Lubos Skoda.

Birch in a more formal setting. The elements are not all quite right or to my liking yet but fun to do these types of exercises.

Sergio @MACH5 , as I have already said, I'm a big fan of your work.
Amazing!

That below is a sad story.
I got myself a big double trunk Shimpaku some years ago. As I was doing extensive deadwood work, I noticed it was full of borers.
To make a long story short, after much suffering from both sides, it died.
I keep it on my bench to always remember that trees die, no matter what were the efforts to save it.
