…doesn’t seem to be alive…
Scratch tests aren’t looking good, and it’s last season growth is all brown , like the branching, and not very pliable … I was out collecting the beech in the picture above and noticed against the other trees how the equivalent in growth should still be pliant it seemed? Also they are all starting to wake up- I know being in the pot could delay that but still doesn’t look like the buds are elongating or even hinting at openingWhat makes you say that?
@Cajunrider all that reading of u moving to arctic temp and turns out ur coming to Philly area? I’m in nj about 20 min from the city- it def is cold in winter but more temperate than New England above us def not the arctic lol
I am in Phila right now and have been in the area multiple times in all seasons. Yes it is colder than Louisiana but not like Quebec or Ontario where I used to work.@Cajunrider all that reading of u moving to arctic temp and turns out ur coming to Philly area? It’s beautiful here now, I don’t know if you’re the kind of guy to go all out of your way to try and get collection permits but in New Jersey at least it’s virtually impossible to get a hold of anyone who has the slightest idea what you’re talking about - I even did the research and quoted the “statute “(or whatever)number and everything so they didn’t have to do any thinking lol so I would just take what you want but then again I’m just a gangster like thatI am in Phila right now and have been in the area multiple times in all seasons. I can appreciate and respect where you are coming from but I’m pulling from woods that are thrashed with dirt bike trails they literally cut trees down at leisure simply to make a new trail and no one is busting their balls and to add a layer to it they are risking their life in the process and yet still it is hardly frowned upon and is significantly more hazardous to personal well being as well as the environment. It’s not like I’m taking trees out in the open I’m like the only person that “sees” why I’m doing anyway, oh did I mention they chainsaw down whatever the fuxk the wantYou’re gonna ruin it for the rest of us. If there’s a law on the books that allows for collection, then there’s a way to do it legally. I can certainly believe the bureaucrats in the permitting office have no idea what you’re talking about, and that makes it difficult, but the fact that few people understand what you’re doing is all the more reason to ensure you represent bonsai practitioners as a community of responsible stewards of natural resources. We don’t need bad PR.

I will leave the bad PR to be stoked By the idiot taking from where you should not
Maybe it’s from years working construction(and literally tree removal services) but I can spot a site tagged to be demo’d from miles away- these are also things I hit
Truthfully I’ve tried and it was so difficult that it became off putting- I’d like to speak to someone in NJ and see how they went about it and I would go for it again considering I really tried before as it wasI realized I came off a bit harsh, and then I went back to soften my tone, but you had already replied.
To reiterate my edits to my prior comment, I used to think the same way. It’s very easy to rationalize taking one or two stunted saplings from a big forest. But overall, it’s not that hard to legally acquire good material, and the potential harm to the community isn’t worth it. I invite you to change your mind as I did.
What makes you say that?

God I hate this kind of shit. ...
I actually love this, continually mowed and lopped mulberry are cool as hell and the species is so hearty I need another one, I had a big trunk cut with no movement that I dug out at my dads property and it shot out an entire canopy and just needed to be profile pruned and it got so dense! Ended up with a mini canopy type deal off one side a little lower than the chop and the other side had one going vertical from right at the cut basically… anyway I’m just saying it barely had roots and took off like wildfire… of course I left it there and he forgot to water it for weeks lol dead as door nail but I now wanna keep my eye geared for some thanks for the reminder.. there is a cluster I know of I’ll have to go reapLittle mulberry at work. It grew on the very lawn edge by the curb and It's been mowed down for years. It's about 13×4 inches in legnth and width but only a couple inches high. This would be a view from the top as it grew...
