Telperion Farm on fire

I wonder if they will start clearing the deadwood and maintaing the forests again after this time.
Very sad and avoidable situation.
I pray that they can rebound, the forests and the people.

Ah this is soooo damn sad. Can't stop thinking of these people. My heart really goes out to them.
Reminds me of the similar devistating fires in Australia not so long ago. The sun went red over here in NZ from the ash blanking it.
This earth is a strange place lately.

This year is so sad on so many levels for so many people.... and filled with lots of wrenching losses.

One can only pray for relief for everyone, help whenever and however you can, and keep a positive vision for our future.

Stay safe. DSD sends

Yes, I'm a social democrat and a convinced EU proponent.

It's hard to explain to someone in a country that was born on a genocide and has apparently no remorse whatsoever. Here in Europe, there were also people who wanted to enslave the others, or even eliminate them. We've come to terms with most of them and that's why we're strong.

You've got the money (?), we've got the values.

Take the Crump vaccine, don't hesitate, buy it now ! 😄
Can you and @hinmo24t fight this out in PM's? This thread is about someone in the bonsai community losing their home and business, not your petty political shit.

2021 will likely be worse lol
I hate to agree but if this is noticible effects of climate change there is no reason to believe it'll get any better next year. I'm hoping someone who is actually knowledgeable about weather will swoop in and tell us this is El Nino or something but we've been warned we would start seeing more extreme weather. Stupid gender reveal parties don't seem to helping either.

edit: I give up on go fund me link

Thanks Gary, this is horrible. I've known Chris and Lisa for a couple years and was a repeat customer. The Gofundme link is working.

What happened to these people is horrible and they are far from alone on many fronts...i hope theyre insured. I tried to shed light earlier, I do believe theres sadness to find if you look for it but plenty to be thankful for with the right attitude. Everything will be okay and appreciate the good. I often force myself and remind how good it is. Didnt wake up in the Congo early to pick for grub protein or stoke fire in Siberia. I woke up free. Have my dog next to me and a good job (7ish years) and my family is healthy etc.

I hope theyre insured and glad they have each other during the this trying time.

Have a great day everyone

Such a tragedy unfolding right now out on the West coast. I couldn't imagine losing my home or personal business, never mind both all in one fell swoop. I certainly hope that the farm is salvageable and that they plan to re-open at some point in the future... I've been a customer of theirs a few times, and once they are back in business, I'll be right there ready to buy more of the great material they offer.

Let’s hope some of the trees they were growing in the ground survived. Some of those have been there for a decade or more! Not something that can be replaced with the drop of an insurance check!

I have one Telperion tree. I’ll treasure it even more now!

Encouraged by the response to their Go Fund Me page. Important for them to be aware of the support out their in the Bonsai community!
The trees I have from their farm have taken on an extra special meaning besides the positive memories of dealing with Chris, Lisa and Gary over the years.

They are wonderful people. I bought my tree from them some time back. 2012, I believe.

I ran into them last January at the California Shohin Convention. I showed them pictures of how the tree I purchased from them has progressed. They tried to give me a Telperion Farms T-shirt! I refused it because they had sent along a Telperion hoodie in the box when they sent me the tree! Very unexpected!

I have never done buisness with them but have lurked their web site more than a few times.
I also remember Kirk taking time out of his busy schedule to respond to a thread here that I posted about my Scots pine questioning if it was worth the effort to develop.
It is the second tree I ever purchased and I was in a bit over my head with it at the time. He responded it absolutely was worth the effort and gave me some pointers.
I still remember that to this day and appreciate that he took the time to respond.
