That's probably why a lot of friends from abroad decided to live here.
Yes, we pay a lot of taxes. But when you have an accident in life, the community helps you. You don't have to prostitute yourself to get medical treatment, we pay taxes, your kids can have a top-notch education without having life-long bebdts, we pay taxes, we care for the others : is that what you call "socialism" ? If that is so, I'm a "socialist", yes. Someone who cares for the others.
I used to be a Christian, then I saw how hypocritical all the churches were. Money, sex abuse and the like. Phoney golden tablets from the sky, etc, such stupid things.
Now I live in the real world - which is not perfect, but I won't get fooled again, I'm not a child any more.

Been watching the satellite images of these fires the last few days. Truly massive smoke plumes, never seen anything like it. Almost all of the bright white areas here are smoke, flowing west from the fire sites.

You should see my truck parked in the driveway every day before I wash all the ash off from the creek fire, which just destroyed my new girlfriends family cabin of 54 years at the top of Meadow Lakes. It was made of logs, we are hoping we can get up there and assess the damage soon. Hoping the logs prevented total destruction...
