Source of Lime Sulphur in Europe

Is it ok to spray lime sulphur on one year old seedlings?
Once opened how long does the product remain viable?

I wouldn't spray seedlings, they usually have enough vigor to fight off a lot of things and if they don't.. You don't want those seedlings.

My bottle has been opened 4 or 5 years ago and it has some sediment on the bottom but it still works fine.

ottle last me about 2 yrs and then I need to buy a new one, as the old one is empty. Avoid swings in temperature to reduca crystallyzation. (I think it helps)

Hey all.
I used lime sulphur back in November. Spring is around the corner so I was going to give another spray next weekend. Should I leave the tree "recover" for a while before repotting? Or am I good to work the tree a day or two after spraying?

Yeah, don't do that. Just.. Sulfur is nasty stuff and it can be quite unpredictable to do this stuff in your backyard without knowledge of chemical procedures.
I remember a well educated friend who thought he could dump a bottle of 96% sulfuric acid down the drain.. His toilet bursted apart and not only were the nasties everywhere, those nasties had a pH value of -10 (negative, yes). His dumpster caught fire because he sweeped it up with paper towels, which caught fire later that evening.

Go with the bottled stuff. I remember the farmers stores having it around.
I hope he wasn living in a rental, I can’t imagine having to explain THAT one to a landlord!

Hey all. Back on the hunt again. The few sources I can find available are charging crazy prices for postage. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Elemental sulfur isn't really that nasty. But concentrated sulfuric acid definitely is. It will turn organic molecules, which we are all made of, into pure carbon by pulling out all the water molecules, in an extremely rapid way. Additionally, it gets very hot when mixed with water. And burn right through your gloves and cause chemical burns when in contact with your skin. Throwing it down the sink definitely is a terrible idea, as your friend found out. And being educated in law or economics or something else, doesn't help you with chemistry. So knowing the difference between sulfur or sulforic acid is very important.

Making your own lime sulfur is again different chemistry. Where the dangerous thing will be the calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide. Don't do chemistry like this if you have no idea what all these things mean. A chemical reaction means one ingredient wants to change to something else. And that either generates heat, or can react with many other things as well. Or both.

Not sure where to buy lime sulfur in Ireland. I don't think it is banned. But probably usually only available to professionals. A quick wikipedia search finds that Neviken, Orthorix, Sulforix, Sulka and Tiosol are brand names for it.

I usually buy multiple items which reduces the per item shipping.
Bonsai.de seems to be OK, but I am not sure what happens with shipping when you actually ask to send to Ireland
