Sean’s Elaeagnusesses

I've always loved silver berry but never really hunted for one - might have to now!
Depending on where you are they are horrifically invasive and can often be found in the wild because they were used as ornamentals in landscaping.

Slip potted this one at the correct angle, the buds have started to open in the last few days

Update on this old collected Elaeagnus. It’s had a pretty good season. I got lucky and had a new bud and shoot pop on the thick main branch which I recently wired. The shoot lost most of its leaves and I thought I’d lost it but it’s started growing new little shoots all up and down so I believe I’m in the clear 👍🏻
It’s the shoot with the 2 big yellow leaves on the thick main cascading branch.

Nice work, Sean. Glad to see your success with airlayering this species. I havent tried it yet with mine, but plan to do it later this spring. Have you seen any leaf reduction? I have one in a bonsai pot and one in a nursery pot and the leaves appear to be about the same size. Maybe it will just take longer to manifest.
