Scarred with a uro completely through scarred trunk Japanese maple

Having read through most of comments here on your post... it's a beautiful work of art by the way...

Have you already moved on from creating your own bonsai to work on older pieces... or.. are you a collector of art?
... collector of art. 🤔 hmmmm as in finished trees?

I enjoy the journey... this one isn't what I would classify as finished. Negative/dead space needs grown out to the right over the trunk. But it's not bad material to start with.

I like buying good bones. Then taking it further. I'll be adding a raft into the mix in a couple years. Collector won't sell it yet. He likes to ensure stability and health before he moves them on.

I understand. 👍
Yes, collector of art. :) I have no doubt that there are people who buy the finished product because, while they enjoy the art form, they don't have the incredible patience, experience, and skill it takes to grow a show stopping bonsai tree.

I can see the act of "collecting finished bonsai" being a hobby in and of itself, and a pretty satisfying hobby at that. 😁

A tree though is never finished. Just a different level of techniques applied. As trees continually grow...unless dead.

I've taken some pretty raw material...that was an ugly duckling to a decent tree. I think. It's the looking back that you see just what you had begun with. I myself tend to forget those earlier days with some...being so ugly to start. Lol

One of the ugliest that I think had the most profound turnaround. Bought it...for the neagari.

Direct links only allow viewing of that post. No other one. @Vin I send them too. Pretty sure he sees them and he doesn't have an account either. You can't open anything else there. Without an account.

For some reason Instagram won't let me see it without registration.
I'll work on it sometime.

Sorry, I meant to say "neagari and inosculation as well". lol

I see all those wonderful trees you post on the Gram even though I do not have an account. :)

your maple is outstanding, as is your BC, thanks for sharing

You don't get a screen insisting that you sign up in order to see the pictures?

I go through Facebook to view Cadillactaste posts. Maybe that's why?
Ahhh... I see.
Facebook locked my profile and won't let me back in without giving them a digital image of my driver's license... which is never gonna happen. lol

That may be why I can't access Instagram. Oh well.
