No prune the ends out of the developing growth as it emerges pinch back to one or two of the compound leaves. Pinching the small leaflets on the compound leaves doesn’t do anything really

Thanks for the clarification. I think thats the way I understood it. I’ve been cutting back to 1 or 2 pairs of leaflets after hardening, instead the advice is to do that earlier as the shoots are still forming.

I’ll probably do another round this year the way I have been doing it, next year it wont be repotted and I’ll try that way.
