The heated exchange regarding bonsai instructional videos got me thinking...who are your top three favorite presenters? I'm hoping to pick up a few new names to add to my rotation, so please chime in.

I'll go first:

1. Heron's (Peter Chan)...prolific output and soothing (if you ignore the airplanes constantly going by overhead)
2. Mirai (Ryan Neil)...lots of info and energy
3. Vance...unfortuantely, I usually only see these when one of you posts them, but they are always a treat.

I shake my head at a lot of Peter Chan's videos. Some of the things he says are misleading (Larches backbud to which he might refer to a dormant one) as well as Cypress which is flat out wrong. Cryptomeria that should not be pinched and watering with your finger over the hose end are a few other red flags. Quantity over quality seems to be the modus operandi. I've visited his nursery and it's way overpriced and an awful lot of trees had substrate washed out of the pot and were bunged under benches.

For entertaining personality Aussie Bonsai bloke is a fun watch. He grows a lot of his own so maybe that's why I like his vids. Play count the beers on his Australia day video LOL.

Ryan - a real teacher, makes it easy to follow
Walter - my favorite style of tree
Kenji Miyata - the only one of these I have seen in person, he doesn't say much but he makes it look so easy

This is the first im hearing of Vance Wood's videos. I tried searching for them for a few minutes with no luck. Anybody have links?

My top three

Walter Pall - refreshing views and European species.
Heron's bonsai - laid back attitude and good motivation for beginners.
Eastern leaf bonsai - good detailed video work, also pretty laid back.

I can't listen to Ryan for longer than 20 minutes, but I appreciate his knowledge and still watch his videos.
Bjorn has a way of not telling everything and hiding the good stuff behind a paywall. Again, I still watch them but they're not my favorites.

I can listen to Nigel Saunders all day, even though I disagree with a lot of his methods.
