Great looking tree, getting more ramified close to the trunk and really coming along well.

Is this a graft? I thought I remembered reading somewhere that most Ume were grafts, i think nathan posted something about it some time ago, but maybe I'm confusing things. I got one white variety from brent two years ago that is growing out in the ground. I want to get another this year from him and await a response to an inquiry. Is there anything that makes one variety better than another in your experience?

Nice progress. Almost too healthy....:roll eyes: It wants to close that wound and hide the nice shari you created.

It's shaping up very nicely, another great progression thread. Can't wait to see the floweer show.

UME BOMB

fun aside I'm on the look out for a larger ume much like yours. Your ume is just fantastic! I would love a larger white ume as my red is a little slower and weaker but not much. That way I could graft and have white and red on the same tree-or all of red :p

Wow, Brian. Your ume is just looking fantastic. Lots of buds! You're going to have a bumper crop!

Another great tree.

Fantastic trunk.

Brian, when selecting material, do you personally seek trunk more than anything?

Your trunks seem to be always quite fitting, pronounced, correct.

Thanks, and yes, always build a bonsai from the bottom-up, inside-out. I look for a healthy good base first, trunk second, branch placement third.

Working with a new camera...mist and white flowers make it tricky to get a decent night shot.

That may be the best show of flower's it's put on for you yet Brian. Also, I love the fact how the shari is toned down now that you skipped a year of lime sulpher. This UME just keeps getting better and better, good work.

You're getting a ton of flowers now, Brian. This is great. This tree is becoming a very fine bonsai.

One last shot at its peak. Quite the show this year!
