Super nice! I have an ume that started to swell but it hasn’t swelled anymore and still no blooms. am I doing something wrong? I keep mine out of the wind and only water when the soil isn’t frozen
Hard to say without seeing it. Start a thread and post some pix. If you’re allowing it to freeze, it will halt the flower buds.Super nice! When I was just starting to develop the branches, I wired them out, then pruned them back short in the late winter to the first leaf bud that was likely to be viable. If I couldn’t tell, I’d cut it back, leaving 2-3 buds, then reduce again if possible when they started growing. So well balanced. How do you get it to be in this stage?
Here is the one I purchased recently. A lot of growths on the young branches but not much on smaller branches. Any advice on what to do now?
One flower is sometimes much better than many flowers, my sister! So close. I miss my old ume, but looks like my younger one will have at least one blossom.
