P. Sylvestris (styled by Taiga)

Those S's are very distracting and tell of MAN.
AGREED! Otherwise tree looks great;).

It's a killer tree.
Don't listen to these guys.
They're just jealous.
They would both love to have it and wouldn't change a thing.
More than likely couldn't if they wanted to.
Wouldn't know how and would end up fucking it up anyway.
I personally think it's a great tree. I would love to have it and wouldn't change a thing.
This tree is my pride, it should be.
You should be very proud.
Hell I'm proud for you!

To add to your comment Mike, I have seen tons of twisty, even looping trees in the wild. I am sure you as well see all types of crazy growth in trees where you live.

I do! This was made from a log or another tree laying on it. A MAN probably did that too.20180512_153343.jpg

There was also some comment from somebody that sad that the branches are to far downward. Those s's are in my point off view not so distracting(doesn't irritates me). It's sometimes a lot easier to see mistakes (or what ever you call them) in a tree them the things that are really interesting. I learned at giving feedback (or discussing a tree) that first you start with the things that are good. I my shrimp brain i see more nice things than bad things.
Nice find mike.

Yeah, your tree sucks! I'll pay 20 euro's for it, so it doesn't bother you anymore, and I'll come pick it up this weekend.

Nah just kidding. I like it. Scots pines in our country make bends like that and I can see how the design is a result of combining nature with human aesthetics.
I'm not kidding about the 20 euro offer though ;-)

This scots right here makes an S if memory serves me right. But back then I didn't have the eye for it.
If you're looking for sick deadwood and nice free-range pines, I'd suggest you have a look at the Mookerheide. It's reachable by train; it stops at a 5 minute walk from this specimen.
The train tracks around there are yamadori heaven, but you'll get arrested if you walk there. And yes, I know for a fact that they're actively scouting for people to give tickets.. Don't think about it.

I bought this pine in 2013, healty tree with good grow.
Next step is look where the live vein is on the left trunk.

I have a problem with this post:
Pines
P. Sylvestris (styled by Taiga) is the header but nowhere in the thread is Taiga mentioned? Tiaga is one of the best of the new generation of bonsai masters. One would think the provenance of the tree would be proudly described after the initial effort to post it in the title of the thread.

Just because something occurs in nature is does not necessarily make it ok in bonsai. The very first thing that hit's your eye with this tree is the large U bend in the primary trunk. That is the focal point. It's not a good focal point because it looks artificial. It's doesn't matter whether it is or isn't artificial. It looks that way. If it didn't look that way no one would have mentioned it. It has nothing to do with education.
However...if your point is that you don't give a damn that it looks unnatural, that's fine, but it doesn't change the initial point. If you don't think it looks unnatural, well I won't comment on that.
Ok go ahead and sharpen your pitch forks....:)

Sorry i'm not going to discus this any further. I don't want to sharpen my pitch forks. :) Just want to have fun doing Bonsai, if i, taiga or my tree only get bad comments fine by me. But it takes away fun.

Vince Wood what do you want to see or hear?

Awesome tree. Only thing that stands out is the non tapered section on the left trunk.

I really hope Taiga is coming to Holland again. He really is a master!!!!!!

The above; post #34 is what I was looking for. I too think he is a master and I like his work, and I like your tree. I love the in your face nature of the tree. It is anti establishment without being kitsch.
