River's Edge
Masterpiece
Keep all the bar branches so you can develop a knuckle curve.
On cheap ass Alberta spruce only. Then I put them outside and in spring make great trees out of them. They all seem to die but through no fault of mine. I only chop, wire and repot them all at once . Shouldn't hurt and I'm learning something right?Sorry I read all that advice already. I think maybe I'll skip the mudman and get a little Paul Bunyon action figure at the base. Maybe a bobble head. Do any of you guys put little ornaments on your trees 4 Christmas?
Put colored pebbles or aquarium sand, on the surface . Make like a Japanese garden.I just received my shipment of rare blue maple bonsai seeds. I especially liked the picture of the ones wih the rainbow leaves so I requested those kind only.View attachment 168237
What kind of soil should I plant them in?Do they need special multi colored fertilizer?
I got enough seeds so I would still have some in a few years if some die along the way. Is 5000 enough?
That's the point of satire. I'm just trying to help beginners and experts look at what we're doing. Neophytes want to be great experts on their first tree.man you guys are brutal
I totally agree, but I have found you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar. I have been keeping trees for around 4 or 5 years now and still don't know how to do much more than keep them alive and healthy. I happen to be an expert in drug addiction and alcoholism. When I am trying to help someone who is suffering I have found that treating them with respect, compassion, and allowing them to make mistakes gives them the best chance at recovery. I totally understand how "newbies" are frustrating at times, but everyone was a newby at one time. If I have asked stupid questions or the likes I truly apologize. I think it is great when anyone becomes excited and desires for more knowledge. That's the point of satire. I'm just trying to help beginners and experts look at what we're doing. Number one for a beginner is to keep a tree alive for a season. Great experts teach them to kill their trees with over information and cool techniques.
Sigh.
I'm afraid this isn't about you. Sorry. Its about beginners wanting to be great experts from the start and great experts forgeting to preach the basics.I totally agree, but I have found you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar. True satire. My Jade keeps saying, "Feed me Seymore."My jade tree loves rock salt as fertilizer. I hate the damn thing.
now you're just being silly. There are three rules to Bonsai:
(1) no bright light
(2) don't get them wet
(3) never fertilize them after midnight, no matter how much they beg. Bright light hurts them, and sunlight can kill them.
You'll thinks silly!!now you're just being silly.
That's only relevant for the Pinus Mogwai aka "the Gizmo".There are three rules to Bonsai:
(1) no bright light
(2) don't get them wet
(3) never fertilize them after midnight, no matter how much they beg. Bright light hurts them, and sunlight can kill them.
I just got my first tree. I've read everthing. I want to chop the learning curve. Any ideas?
