Hey BNuts! I have some questions about Ponderosa Pine as I am new to the species. I've acquired one since fall of last year and have made it through so far without killing it. Since the new candles have now fully emerged I am now seeing the base of those new needles start to turn a lighter green. I am assuming it could be from too much water as we have had a very wet summer. Ive been reading they like it in the dry side so do I need to be more diligent about projecting from the rain? The soil around the pot looks well draining but I think the core might still be field soil from when it was collected. Are these a difficult species?
Thank you for any tips or advice you can offer.

Some of what you need to know

Mirai most excellent advice. As for H2O as long as using free draining substrate like pumice is nearly impossible to over water. ☺️

Thank you for the helpful info. I think i need to repot it next year into 2:1:1 pumice, lava, akadama and check out the core.
