Need Thoughts on this Yamadori Hornbeam

I'm basically in the same boat regarding wanting to grow everything I can. I find it impossible to throw away a living thing just because it won't suit my perverted bonsai purposes. I have several runt seedlings that are several years old, but never really grew, as well as some species that don't do well in my area, or don't make good bonsai. Most people would have thrown them away; not me. Maybe they will be mighty trees one day. Who am I to take that chance away from them?

With a new batch of a shit-ton of seeds of a dozen different species sitting in the fridge now, I will have no choice but to break out the iron fist and start culling the weaker ones. I'll probably also be giving some trees away.

If cuttings etc were cats you would be called a hoarder. Same dynamic. Same results. Lots of things you ant take care of cluttering up your yard 😆

I have a hard cap on 2 cats! I'm not crazy! 🤣

Seriously though, this will be the year I start giving away seedlings. I may even go to the local club (not a member yet) and just let give them to anyone willing to accept. I wonder if the California Bonsai Studio accepts donated seedlings?

I was always one to give stuff away. I get my enjoyment out of getting things to a nice point (pre-bonsai) them pass them on for others to enjoy. Free! Not Sell! I took 15 Premna Microphyllia to the local Bonsai club to give to those that wanted them. The club said no, that they want them all and will raffle them to make money for the club. That was the last time I took stuff to the club and stopped my membership. That didn’t set well with me when I wanted to give them away to those that didn’t have one.

The cat lady two doors down from me offered a free kitten once 😆👍

Yeah, that's pretty lame of them. I might have just stood up and said "For anyone who wants one, I'll be in the parking lot."

Yeah, probably should have, but I don’t like to force confrontations. It wasn’t the first time I had a major disagreement with the club leadership, so I just decided it was time to part ways.
