None of my past APTs had balconies... makes you highly appreciate any balcony or yard.
Just finished the pergola with 50% shading. Yesterday, we had +30°C, today around 33°C. Just on time, shading will relieve some temperature pressure on trees. I need to make a lot of tweaking and change trees display, but for now, it works as we are heading for the summer.

Installing a native plant garden and
21 monkey poles throughout the garden.
The plants are waiting for the soil and water conservation district to approve my cost share application, so it’s a lot of digging post holes so far

Everything looking so good Ryan! Only suggestion I’d make if you still need to build out more structures is to stain the wood first then build. It’ll save you time and hassle.

If the pieces are soaking there will def be a difference in stain penetration. But it won’t be a huge difference. As long as you hit the desired color I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Danny, for the big stuff mostly oaks, maples and hornbeams. Around my area of northern NJ the forests are mostly comprised of deciduous species.
