My Battle to repot with a Giant Sequoia Nursery Stock

my tree unfortunately did not survive the repotting process. My after care was pretty good so I blame it on the extreme root work. I may just start over and grow some in bonsai pots because they grow pretty fast.

Bummer that the tree died. It is helpful that you posted the final result, so we can learn by seeing an example of what was "too much". I had assumed it would have survived. I thought you were on track, doing it correctly. We can all benefit from your experience, even though it was not an ideal outcome.

They are rumored to be difficult repots, not "liking" root work.

I have one that has been growing in a large nursery pot for a bunch of years now. I really need to get it out of the pot and do some serious root reduction but I keep putting it off. It's really slowed down and not making the kind of progress I wanted (in terms of trunk development) so I really need to get after it. Next spring...but I keep telling myself that year after year.

oh no! Sorry it died. ThNk you for posting your journey with the tree. And yes it’s a learning process..planning to repot my 2 sequoias by Nov when it’s colder

Drove 8 hours in total today to get my Sequoia trees. Two 5 year old trees. And I did the first pruning today on both trees. The left tree bottom half was trimmed by previous owner but I’ll let the new shoots grow. I will let them recover for AtleAst 5 months and repot them when it’s colder and during dormant period. I’ll create a large wooden shallow and wide boxes for them. I’ll try to do minimal root work. Also, if you guys have any suggestions and advice please let me know. I’d really appreciate it. 😊These are my before and after pic.
