I know what you mean now. Good idea. My plan was to continually remove the soil and adjust the roots to where i want them. I also feel that having the roota do their own thing would suit the design.
I will check the roots in 6 months and assess. I may even replace the fig altogether.

Not much of an update but i removed the Styrofoam box the roots had grown longer so i wrapped with clingwrap.
