Maximum Requirements

Show me some 3000 year old Bristlecone trees that aren’t up in their harsh environments.

They will thrive, for a while, in milder climates.

That's what I thought... You got nothing.
You have no business acting like a knowitall claiming things that are not true.

I edited my post above.

I’ll have to ask my daughter to see her references from her studies.

Here is a screenshot from the National Park Service about bristlecones;

it appears that in “favorable climates” they’re prey to root rot.

Adair is spot on

Except there is nothing about root rot in the passage, still ....

Read read Bo Bead. banana fana fo feed.

Perhaps the plague called humans ruin them where humans take refuge.

It merely states they don't get their legendary age, but....

Maybe they have only been in the valley for half the time they been in the peaks.
They will still be reaching that legendary age.

Knick knack Patty whack....

No, it doesn’t say it in THAT reference. There are other sources. I didn’t bother to post all of them.

anyone can find this stuff as easily as I did. It’s called “Google”.

geez...

I don’t make this stuff up! I know there are people on this site that don’t like my style of writing. I’m straight forward about what I believe. I dont post on all the threads, and I do my best to stick to subjects that I have some personal experience, and whenever possible, I back it up with a tree. I’m not some anonymous avatar, people run into me at shows and introduce themselves and tell me they follow me on BonsaiNut! And they say they never post themselves! So if you and BonsaiDawg want to pick nits, just put me on ignore. Please!

Foam paintbrush or makeup applicator (something that will hold lots of liquid, but not be torn up by the needles). Dip in isopropyl alcohol, "paint" from base of branch outward over whole tree. Rinse foliage. You may want to protect the soil from drips while you do this. Spray with neem 1x per week (at night). Maybe repeat the isopropyl after a couple weeks.
What percentage do you use and could it be sprayed on a juniper? It will be hard to find now.

Spray 70% Isopropyl straight from the bottle on foliage and bark, but do not let a lot soak into the soil. Hold the tree upside-down, spray it, shake it off politely. Most bottles it comes in will accept a regular spray bottle sprayer screwed on. You can spray the top of the soil, but don't saturate the soil. Max 5% in water as a drench, more will stunt growth, >10 or 15% may kill plant.

Thanks I'll try it before I oil.
