I generally start collecting in February. I keep newly collected trees in an unheated attached garage until the last freeze has past. No shuffling these ones. So far, in the last 3 years I haven’t lost anything I’ve collected early. I know some people will say to wait but as long as you can provide proper care I don’t think it really matters. I think your space would be ideal for late winter/early spring collected trees.

The more I look at this tree the more I love it. It is leafing out good this year and not as much die back as I thought there would be.

I’m also realizing that branch selection and pushing back budding is not going to be so simple.
