Maples

I love JM cultivars on their own roots. You have some nice ones!

Very kind of you, thanks mate.

Where are you from,spkokocki1956 ?

It's always useful to know whereabout people are, climate, soil, etc. can make a difference.

Being of Polish origins, "kokocki" rings a bell. 1956, thats when I was 1 year old.

But all this can't help us, me included, to help you to... the Goden Path of Bonsai...

:D:rolleyes:

Joking apart, it's nice to know where people are from...

I live in Tampa, Fl.
Our climate zone is 9
Yes I am polish We are just about the same age.
Hope this helps.
I am a Bonsai novice and any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks:)

Just for the fun :
Aseedling of 'Ryusen' that has retained the weeping charctristics of the mother plant. I had dozens from the same tree, a quarter of them showing this weeping tendancy.
I put this one in a big pot, with fertilizer. July 23 and today :

It's hard to decide what I will do with the other ones in small pots,
I'm not sure they can make a "credible" bonsai : a "natural" tree doesn't look like that.

It's so artificial, a man-made cultivar, a sort of beautiful freak in a way, but making a kind of "niwaki" on a small scale is perhaps a way to go...

Maybe systematically pruning back to a "double bud", just leaving the one that points downward to see how the branches respond.

?

I’m looking forward to your decision! I’m a fan of your progressions/styling. Thanks for sharing.
