Is this leaf scorch? I am not sure what’s causing the discoloration in the leaves. Any ideas?

Some sort of scorch. The question is what caused it?
The grey colour looks more like sunburn rather than dehydration. Any chance the tree was moved from shade to sun or recently got more stronger sun than usual?

The other possibility is dehydration though that usually appears as brown edges on leaves. Has the soil dried out at any stage in the past week or so?

Other details can help with diagnosis. Adding a location to your profile helps us understand the local weather and climate. Knowing whether the tree is kept indoors, sheltered balcony or outdoors - morning sun, afternoon sun, no sun, etc. How often are you watering?
Almost any clues can help.

I’m in USDA zone 6a. The tree is outside on my porch-it would be afternoon sun however I do had a shade sail up. I think the soil has dried at least once-the last time I stuck a chop stick deep into the soil it wasn’t very damp when it came out. I check almost every day and water when the top is dry-however with it being in a pond basket and the water running through it so much I’m wondering if it isn’t getting enough water. Although I do thoroughly soak it when I water it
