I bought this tree several years ago when someone retired and was selling of their trees. I got a nice deal at the end as they were ready to move and just do a clearance. It always had an issue with a weak branch. Finally I repotted it this spring. Not to start a fight but lots of mucky broken down akadama causing one root to be a goner. There is also a bunch of bark that just shed itself at the base of the tree. It will add to the comp when I get it cleaned and sulphered up. I'm also using a new front. With the dead branch gone I think it looks better this way.
I was a little nervous bare rooting this tree as it also had a case of winter burn, but sometimes the cure is so much better than it's current state that you should just go with the cure. It's seems to be sending out new candles very well. This is a case where nothing else bad should happen to this tree this year or it might be a goner. It's my task to get this tree growing hard and fast this summer.
