This tree just inspires conversation and thought. I really like this hawthorn maybe my favorite I've seen. I'm glad u left he rock n root, I like it there, adds to the wild look.
I'm not sure if I agree or not. It's definitely one of those trees that really pops when naked! Its really nice material. Judging from the last pic I would go for a bit lower apex.
However on the other pictures it looks ok...

Hi Judy. Yes, its just had its third pruning of this season - also the apex has been reduced, and the big root around the rock has been carved.Did you just do a trim on it recently? I only ask because it doesn't look like it's throwing much growth if not. Love this treee...
Thanks Judy. I am led to believe that hawthorns are a little different from other deciduous trees insomuch as they must be pruned as soon as the shoots begin to lignify and before they turn woody. I have used this video as a guide (skip to 7 minutes):Hi Lee, thanks for the additional pic. I wonder if you would be further ahead with your branch building process if you would allow it to thicken your chosen secondaries for longer instead of doing so many cuttings in one season?
I will definitely see you there Chris. It is just up the road for me, so I have offered my services to help Tony out in any way. I already have a couple of surplus pieces, so will definitely be needing to move some on next year.
You staying at burrs too? If so, We'll have to have a chat next to the back of your van
If you really have loads of good stuff on the hills near your place, maybe 2016 BURRS I will stay a bit longer, and get you drunk to take me on a collecting trip!
