Koto Hime Maple Progression

Love following your progressions dude. I need to figure out how to have more success with layers and cuttings as I have had not a lot of success up to this point.

Jesus.. And I thought the kotohime maple was slow growing. Your thread makes it seem like its pretty quick.
I just obtained a couple of young ones, excited to see how it progresses this year.

Inspiring I had to go out and look at my Shishigashira too late for cuttings. So two questions do you also take summer cutting and if so when? What do you use as fertiliser and at which frequency?

i haven't been taking summer cuttings, but if i was going to, I'd take them when you see the leaves are done hardening off.

as far as fertilization, im still using up a bag of peter's professional 20/20/20 i bought years ago.
in spring as new growth is hardening off i use Real Growers Recharge microbes/kelp/acids mix at 2 grams per gallon once a month till leaf fall.
last year i fed the peter's at 2g almost every week.
when i see the trees are going into storage mode, i use Jack's Hydro 0/12/26 at 2g.

when I'm through with the peter's I'll be using a combo of calcium nitrate and jacks 0/12/26 at around 1:2 grams. maybe 2:3

finished repotting and wiring up one year old cuttings.

the two extra large cuttings were fairly straight trunked, so i wired up the first year shoots for cuttings next spring with movement already baked in.

Wow, my koto hime just don't look like that. Mine are scrawny with ridiculously small leaves and barely grows at all.
