Are you in an area that has a long growing season to help you get this rate of growth?
I don't see this up here in the half frozen north.

looks like koto. zone 6a is rough. whoever gave it to you might not have been keeping it in optimal health. roots might have a problem with the substrate. fungus and scorch just leave spots and burnt leaf edges, but the leaves don't usually fall off.Wondering if this is same as your tree type?
This was a small seedling given to me and leaf’s are super tiny. Pot is 4” for reference. Tree is struggling right now and dropped its leafs. It seems your are super vigorous so just wondering if you think this is same tree as I was told it is a koto hime

If it's a seedling, then it's not Koto Hime. It could have been grown from a cutting, though.Wondering if this is same as your tree type?

Was not intending to hijack thread but was just asking if the small tree I had Was same cultivar from what I have seen on this site has had much success with koto hime trees. I will bow out on other questions with regards to mine.@Jrmcmich Start a new thread please![]()

Do love seeing how well yours do. What do you normally grow cuttings in (medium)?yeah jrmcmich, look what you did, clutting up the thread. you gotta stop taking pics with that potato, tooyour cutting is probably just young. when i first take cuttings theyll drop leaves sometimes and die back.
cuttings from last week with no protection. theyll probably loose some more leaves but most will make it.
