Outstanding project! Very cool!
Same. This is a really special tree. Raft is a seldom seen style, but this tree is a spectacular example. What a great example of making lemonade from a lemon! This raft has such amazing potential to become a show stopper. The trunks still need to come into proportion with the base along with filling out the canopies/ramification, but Dave doesn't seem too afraid to put it back into a grow box in order to accomplish this. So inspiring! Will look forward to a spring update on this one.
Short trip at that!Sorry for the delay in responding... I was watching TB 12 cement another trip to the Super Bowl.
You thinking what I'm thinking. (2 Pots one tree!!!)This is some kind of great to me too!
The things that go under the tree, that's what is so interesting.
The things going on, on the other side.
I hope the "go under" stays, and maybe even got emphasized at repot?
Got Future?

Trident buds are just beginning to swell... time to make thread grafts on this one to hopefully get a few more trunks to work with. I also made a few root grafts.

Nice.View attachment 96887 View attachment 96888 Considering there weren't any roots in the right side a year ago, I'm pretty happy with where the roots are today.
That looks amazing! Good fit with the pot shape and size too. All the grafts look strong. This one got moved back into a pot today. Clearly digging the Akadama!

The new grafts are strong enough to get wired…

It still needs some clean up that should have been done last fall, but I can get to that in a bit.
