Jade lovers delight

Ctrassula ovata and the like can stay outside in Catalunya.
Yea, pretty much anything. All kinds of ficuses, succulents and tropical plants can stay outside, they might lose some leaves or look ugly. I never had to put anything inside including avocado trees, strelitzas and the likes.

A crassula cascade project.

Very true!! However if you put it in a bigger pot for a couple years, I think you'll see a big difference.

My only interesting crassula.. I have a bunch of cuttings. There is a thread on it in the sub forums. Its planted in a motor controller shell I modified into a planter.

Fun species. I dont care if cuttings live, die, etc. Just endless stuff to do with them. I have a little forest in a @sorce pot I can post too.

Thoughts?

Maybe a bit too much, er... geometric ? I mean, with right angles. Too "square" for my taste, un-balanced - hope you don't take it bad.

I'd cut off the first banch on the left. Or the trunk above it. Like it is, it looks like it doesn't know if it's a "broom" or a "cascade". You got to choose.

I would definitely cut off the first branch ;)

Yeah no problem, I appreciate the feedback. I've never actually applied bonsai technique to this tree. It has sat forgotten about (but very happy in the bright sun) in a pot by my front porch.
I finally decided that it deserves to be with the bonsai trees, so have upgraded it to a prime backyard location next to the benches.

Well, that's 2 votes for removing the first branch - I think it's a good idea. So in light of these overwhelming results, it's gone. Tomorrow I will take it as a cutting

I was just going to say you could get a few cuttings from that branch.

Two of the few jades I have. It's time to give these a trim.

Crassula Argentea cv Maruba Kagetsu Variegata (interestingly all leaves start variegated and go dark green with age)

I repotted my C. ovata in mainly akadama. It fared much better this winter than in the previous years.
I took it outside a couple of weeks ago (very mild weather here, even unusually hot : 29°C on Tuesday!), and pruned it :

Perhaps I should have been bolder, and prune it back harder, but to be on the safe side, I decided to keep two leaves on each twig. It's been very hot here for the season, and I put it in full sun. If more light through the branches induces lower buds, I might prune it harder...

Cool looking little tree. Yeah you definitely could have pruned harder, I'm not sure if it's possible to over prune these things! I think you could have easily taken another inch or 2 off the branches to create a more compact canopy.
