Have you ever tried grafting them to a faster growing variety?
 
With the price of small cuttings I'm not willing to take the chance. Thanks for your feedback.
 
Don, do you think a jbp would survive down in my zone? I think they're really interesting trees and would love to get one someday just worried, and maybe I'm wrong here, that I won't be able to provide a dormancy period with my endless summer.

Wigert's- which is very close to you- is a beautiful nursery with a BUNCH of JBP, all different varieties and I get the impression they do fine down there.

I don't have any personal experience there with JBP but I have customers in Florida that grow them successfully.
