Wow those are pillars! How would you even begin to work on these things? Do they backbud well? (I'm assuming they do!).

Just wanted to say, I picked up one of these (euonymus) from Don earlier this year. Very nice root system. I wanted to put it in the ground to grow the next trunk segment but it was already sprouting and the ground was too wet...so in a pot for the year. Responding well so far with multiple shoots below the chop. Nice bark, good roots, well packed for shipping.

They grow quickly and will put out buds abundantly. You will get a lot of new growth from which to choose branches and build your tree.

Here's a chance to get a sumo Japanese Maple. I'm not sure about the variety but the leaves are extra small. 8" tall with 7" nebari and 3" trunk above the base.
It had some branches inadvertently removed so it has new shoots growing out. It does need to be thinned out to open up the trunk and create some negative space.
Lots of potential.
Offering it for $685 shipping included but will entertain reasonable offers.

What is the dark (contrasting to the live bark on several images) triangular area at the base? Just been watered, or deadwood?

On the maple, the base has some exposed roots and some darker, wet areas. There is one are with a "V" shape opening between roots.

This auction ends in less than 4 hours and the price is still super cheap. $5.50 is about 6-7% of retail. It will sell for whatever the last bid is, so its your chance to get an azalea at a bargain price!

Got the price up a little for you Don. Still pretty low.

Don, I'm curious - have you worked/developed any of these yourself (past this "stump" phase), or do you pretty much sell them all at this point?
