I might need some help.....

marcosolo,

Thanks for the hit.

If I may inquire, are the second and third pictures of a crepe myrtle?

Also, what plant is the fourth picture?

Regards,
Martin

Thank you for sharing (again).

I really cannot believe how much these poor plants were neglected...

Please let us know these trees ultimate outcome.

Will the owner keep them? Sell them? Plant them to field?

I suspect it forshadows the final outcome for a number of private collections.

I can't be the only crazy old man with benches full of trees.

I'm glad you went looking for this thread, I never saw it the first time. That water elm is so amazing. I hope that you are enjoying this, as much as I enjoyed seeing it.
At least he got help for the trees before they all died.

This kind of situation occurs occasionally and several of us in the club have tried to think of a solution. The problem occurs when an aging person no longer has the ability to care for a fine collection and the trees decline rapidly. The owner remembers what he paid for the trees in their prime and is unwilling to give/donate them or even sell them at the current value. I've seen imported satsuki azaleas that originally sold for thousands become junk because of this.
Sad.

My whole collection may never be worth more than kindling (or a Noh play's supper). Still its been one reason for me to pry my fat asterisk out of a chair and into the back yard.

I still don't have a commited relative or a local club to bequethe them onto. I gotta keep working this thought...

Hi

I've got a bonsai in rehab that I gifted a friend less than a year ago, she is the gardening sort, it is a tough tree.......she just struggled with it, and I have it regaining health in less than a week.

I jokingly refer to my trees as my children since I don't have actual ones, and I've had to make peace with the fact that most likely my children will die shortly after I do........

Sad because these are living things.......

Hi

Some good advice here...

"I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless. So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune."

I know I want to leave a couple of nice trees to the Como Conservatory here in MN. They will be taken care of for a long time and seen by many. Better than dying in someone's backyard!!

Thanks for bringing this up, Dario.

Imagining the past, present, and future of those trees... Dunno, having a hard time finding the proper emotion.

well, I've gotten the trees back into a manageable state......And just as I suspected, my employer ended my employment the second that was apparent, which was just this past sunday...but, good news, everything is for sale....Dario, I know you were interested in some pots and the trees will be available this coming spring once they've been repotted(it wouldn't feel right selling them otherwise)....The collection lost a lot of good trees, but those that are left are thriving now and will be good shape come next spring...any big Podocarpus fans keep your eyes peeled....I also have some of Vaughn Banting's benches from his personal collection for sale, as well as a few of Vaughn's trees.....any inquiries on pots or benches, just PM me.....
